Announcement Lists
Used to distribute newsletters, information about a product, a service, an event, or other noteworthy information. Once your list is set up and ready to use you can manage it from the control panel. Your clients can easily add or remove themselves from the list using the list interface, a simple html form placed on your site or send email commands to the list server.

Anonymous FTP
Anonymous FTP can be setup to allow uploads of data to your website. Uploaded files can not be downloaded through the Anonymous FTP system, only the website owner can access them. Anonymous FTP is useful for letting clients upload art work, job files or other types of data. This service can be configured from the control panel.

Auto-Responders
Auto-Responders can be set to reply with a pre-set message when email is received by users who are on holiday or support messages. The mail server will automatically place the incoming message in the users mailbox, as normal, but will also reply to the sender with the automatically generated message. How often your auto response message is sent out can be configured as well. Add, remove or change auto-responders from the control panel.

Back-Ups
We do not offer any backup services, you are fully responsible for maintaining an up to date copy of your website on your own computer. There are many ways to ensure your site is backed up, see our knowledge base for more information.

Bandwidth
The maximum amount of data that can travel a communications path in a given time, usually measured in bits per second. If you think of the communications path as a pipe, then bandwidth represents the width of the pipe that determines how much data can flow through it all at once. 1 GB (Gigabyte) equals 1024 megabytes or 1,000,000,000 bytes.

CGI-BIN Support
CGI (Common Gateway Interface) allows you to write a program to handle information that your web visitors provide. Basic examples include Feed Back forms, Guestbook's and more. CGI access is included with every account by default.

Control Panel
Login into our custom web based control panel to manage your web hosting account with ease. From here you can access your account information, view your statistics, manage your email accounts and more.

Counter
By placing HTML code on any of your web pages you can have an easy to use counter. You can also access your raw logs or the statistics we provide for you for another way to count visitors.

Cron Jobs
A cron job is an automated task scheduling program that allows you to repeatedly run scripts. For example, a script that synchronizes your shopping cart's inventory with your inhouse accounting system could be setup to run every morning at 2:00.

Custom Errors
You can customize your 404 (file not found) error page, as well as your 500 (internal server error), 403 (forbidden), and 401 (failed authorization) error pages.

Custom MX Record
Sometimes a user wants to handle their own email administration or give the responsibilities to a third party while keeping the domain's web site hosted with us. In these cases, all that needs to be done is to change the "MX" DNS record to be whoever is handling email.

Disk Storage
Disk space is the amount of server disk storage your hosting account is allocated. The sum of the file sizes of all your web sites, all your email, and all your databases on a plan constitutes your total disk storage for that plan. We do allow you to go over your disk storage, you can of course add to your plan to raise your disk storage limit! A typical page of a web site is 30KB (1024KB = 1MB) and a typical email message is 3KB.

DNS
DNS is the "Domain Name Service". This is the white pages of the Internet, and translates names (like www.superwebhost.com) to an IP address (204.50.24.71). We manage DNS for your domain, and you can add DNS entries for your office systems, etc.

Domain Forwarding
Some people have more than one domain and only need one active site, we will forward or point any extra domains you may have to your main domain name for free. We reserve the right to limit the amount of forwarding requests.

Domain Parking
You can register or transfer your domain to our server and we will park it for you. Your domain will link to part of our site indicating this domain is reserved for future use. When you are ready to use the domain, simply request a web hosting account.

Domain Registration
Check to make sure the domain name of your choice is available and we will register the domain name in your behalf and bill you for the first two years of domain registration.

Domain Renewal
If your domain is registered with us, you can renew your domain name from 1- 10 years. All domains are managed with our secure, easy to use Domain Manager. If your domain is with another registrar you may want to transfer your domain to us as we charge about half the price of leading registrars for domain renewals.

Email Aliases
Email aliases let you assign roles to individual Email addresses. For example, bob@yourdomain.com is also responsible for sales. You can alias "sales@yourdomain.com" to Bob's Email account.

Email Footer
A footer may be added to the bottom of every message leaving a domain, to enable the footer select the check box, enter the text you would like to appear in the footer and click on the Update button. Many companies add disclaimers to the bottom of every message.

Email Forgery
We are implementing SPF a technology that allows an ISP to define what mail servers are officially allowed to send mail from a given domain.

Email Forwarding
Register or renew your domain name with SuperWebhost.com and we will provide you with free email forwarding. For example anything@yourdomain.com would forward to you@yourisp.com.

FrontPage
All accounts come with FrontPage Extensions on. Frontpage is one of the most popular html editors. It has some very easy to use extra features, such as hit-counters, search engines etc. as well as excellent site management tools that make publishing your web site very easy. These extra functions require a web server with Frontpage extensions installed.

FTP Transfer
Your account includes FTP access allowing you to upload, download, delete and move web files to your web site. There are no restrictions on when or how often you use your FTP account. You can use any FTP program or FrontPage.

Guarantee
If you are not satisfied with our service for any reason and wish to leave, let us know and we will refund your money. It is very important to us to take care of our customers in the beginning, middle and end of our relationship. If you are not satisfied for some reason and wish to stay with us, let us know and we will find out what happened and if it turns out to be something we could have done better we will credit your account with one month.

htaccess
htaccess, the Apache per-site configuration file allows you to customize parts of your website through the web server itself. You can create password protected areas of your site (for example, requiring a password for your web statistics), or change error files, setup redirections or use flexible mod rewrite rules.

IMAP
IMAP is one of three ways you can access email in your mailboxes hosted with us (the other two being POP3 and web-based email). Most email clients in existence today support the IMAP protocol, which basically reads your email directly from the server rather than downloading it to your local computer first.

In house operations and support
We run everything in house. We do not out source, so when you call or Email us, you're talking directly with the people who actively use and maintain the servers. The servers are located within our office so we have 100% control.

List Hosting
Running a list server enables you to create an Internet mailing list for sending news to subscribers, publishing a newsletter or simply an effective form of two way communication for a large group of people.

Log Files
Log files store information about hits to the client’s web site. All hosting customers have access to their log files, in either raw or graphical format. Log files are compiled into graphical format daily and they contain information relevant to a website.

MySQL
MySQL is a powerful and easy to use database and is ideal for web based shopping stores, forums, content managers and almost any other application that requires a method of storing data. MySQL is open-source, fast and reliable. Your databases' disk usage count towards your total plan disk limits. We offer unlimited number of databases, but we limit the total connections at one time you may have. Databases may not be used to store files (including but not limited to images, multimedia (music and movies) or application files). These types of files should be stored within the user account and referred to in the database by a "pointer," if needed.

Perl
Perl is a popular language for writing CGI scripts. On our servers, perl is located at /usr/bin/perl. To make sure your perl script gets run from the web as a script you should name it with a .pl or .cgi extension.

PHP
PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML PHP version 4 and 3 is installed on our servers and included in all our plans. Make sure your php script uses a .php, .php3, .php4, or .phtml extension.

Pop Accounts
We give you web access to your own mail server using your own domain so you can add, delete, change, forward, add aliases, forwards, auto responders and more. Your email users can then manage their own accounts using the same web access with their own account and even read and reply using the built in web mail system. Your email accounts will be name@yourdomain.com and your mail server will be mail.yourdomain.com. We provide this service for normal commercial web sites and we do not allow companies who wish to provide free email to the world such as hotmail.com.

PostgreSQL Database
PostgreSQL is another powerful ANSI 92 compliant database server supporting full transaction support and many other features not found in MySQL. While PostgreSQL is a bit slower and more robust than MySQL, many web applications make extensive use of it.

Python
Python is another programming language (like perl and PHP) that is popular for writing CGI scripts. On our servers, python is located at /usr/bin/python. To make sure your python script gets run from the web as a script you should name it with a .py or .cgi extension.

Registrar Transfer
We can now move your domain from another Registrar such as Network Solutions to our Registrar, Tucows. This process will change registrars, add one year to your domain name renewal date. You will gain access to the easy to use Domain Manager and have full control of your domain configuration using a username and password.

Service and Support
We offer same day service on approved orders within our normal business hours. We return your calls, we reply to your email and we try to do it in the same day. Shopping Cart
A shopping cart is needed when you have multiple products and it can make it easier for the customer to organize the purchases. We offer a free shopping cart with your account and provide links to many shopping cart providers, they can vary from free to thousands of dollars. The order can be received via email and then simply process the order manually.

Spam Assassin
SpamAssassin detects certain characteristics present in most Junk Email. As the message is tested a running score is kept. If the score exceeds a certain threshold, SA will tag the message as SPAM and pass it on to you. With this filtering you can create a Rule in your Email software to move any messages with {SPAM?} in the Subject line to a separate folder for later review.

Spam Filtering
CounterSpam is a dedicated mail filter server that accepts incoming Email from the Internet. CounterSpam processes mail using MimeDefang, ClamAV and SpamAssassin to detect and prevent spam and viruses from propagating to your mail server. CounterSpam also includes many real-time blocking systems that can detect a sudden surge in spam activity and will blacklist remote hosts for a short period of time to prevent any additional dangerous Email from making it in. In addition to real-time analysis CounterSpam also makes use of the following Real Time blacklist lists to block known sources of spam as well as illegitimate proxies and mailers.

SSL Secure Certificate
Add a secure layer of protection to your transactions using our secure server. We offer both certified and non-certified (free) SSL certificates to ensure confidentiality of your customers transactions.

Streaming
We do not run any special server side apps like a real audio server etc. We have installed popular multi-media mime types for your use such as .avi, .mpg, .mpeg,..mov, rm, .ram, .swf. Streaming Real Audio, Streaming Real Video and Macromedia Flash are most common.

Sub-Domains
Sub domains are available to you and is to be used only as part of your main site, support.domain.com. We do not allow reselling of space whatsoever under these types of accounts. We do not allow creation of sub-domains to give out to other people.

Site Statistics
Stats are generated daily and can be viewed through your website or the control panel. We use Webalizer, which produces highly detailed, easily configurable usage reports in HTML format, for viewing with a standard web browser. You can also download your access logs for use with third party products.

Shell Access
Shell access allows you complete control (as if you were sitting in front of the server itself!) over your website. Edit your html and cgi files using Joe's Own Editor, an easy to use editor. Move your files around and perform low-level "tweaking" of your web site to the point of absolute perfection. * Note: We do not permit the running of any background programs (ie: robots, etc..)

Unique IP
A unique IP is available to you when needed and is associated with your domain name. Those who need a SSL certificate require an IP address.

Uptime Guarantee
Our guarantee to you is that our network will be up and functioning 99.9% of the time per month. If your web site is not available for more than 99.9% of the time within a month, we will issue a percentage credit to the following month's service. See our Policies for more information.

Virus Scanning
All mail coming in and out is scanned, the Anti-Virus definitions are updated daily. Messages found to contain a virus are rejected at the mail gateway. No warning message will be sent to the recipient, or sender of the message. This service can be disabled if needed.

Web-based Email
Webmail is popular for those who travel or use more than one computer. Using WebMail is easy and fast and leaves the mail on the server unless you delete it.
